Pegs for PassengerI put together this custom set of wheels for fun passenger transport.
Good quality Mavic 221 UB Control rims with eyelets with Shimano Paralax hubs and a 9 speed. I replaced the hollow quick-release axle with a unusual, solid, hardened steel axle with big nuts to hold buddy pegs. The pegs rock also, they are large diameter GT stunt pegs, they are knurled aluminum, strong, light, and beautiful. And actually, more comfortably hold a foot than other pegs. This also improved theft prevention. The triangular base of the pegs did not allow them to turn. A ratchet, extension, and deep well socket are required to get the wheel off. Only a Pink Panther level bike thief would have these tools. The base of one peg required a tiny bit of filing to clear the full range of the deraileur, and I am glad I chose the super strong hardened, extra long axle over cheaper choices.
It is good to carry passengers. It is a pleasant civic duty and can help extend party time if there is a change of location, and not everyone is riding. Additionally, if your passenger is a person whom you desire, it is almost assured you will get laid after you give her or him a ride.
